Feodosia National Gallery I. K. Aivazovsky, Maritime art museum in Feodosia, Crimea.

The Feodosia National Gallery is an art museum located in the city of Feodosia and houses marine paintings from different periods. The building contains multiple exhibition spaces where works by various artists and styles are displayed, spanning from the 1800s onward.

The artist Ivan Aivazovsky founded the gallery in the middle of the 19th century as part of his own residence with an initial collection. This was among the earliest art museums established in the region and showed the importance of marine art at that time.

The artist Ivan Aivazovsky left behind his most extensive collection of seascape paintings here, making the gallery a reflection of his passion for the sea. Visitors walking through the rooms can see how a single artist shaped the way people viewed maritime subjects during his lifetime.

It is easier to plan your visit if you check the opening hours beforehand, as they vary depending on the day of the week. It helps to allow enough time to walk through the different rooms at a relaxed pace.

During a major conflict in the middle of the 20th century, the entire collection was moved away from the city to protect it from damage. This rescue operation proved crucial for many artworks to survive until the present day.
