Gorky Park, Leisure park in Sverdlovsky district, Perm, Russia
Gorky Park is a leisure park in the Sverdlovsky district of Perm, featuring around 50 modern rides and attractions, a rope course, a small animal enclosure, and children's play areas. The grounds spread across different zones where you can move between rides, tree-lined rest areas, and family activities.
The park began in 1804 as a tree-lined boulevard created by Governor Karl Moderach, with birch rows and carriage paths. It was renamed after writer Maxim Gorky in the 1930s, marking its shift from a historical promenade to a modern leisure space.
The park carries the name of writer Maxim Gorky, a tribute that has been part of local identity for generations. You will notice brass band performances and families gathering here as their everyday meeting place.
The park is accessible every day and operates with a payment card system for its attractions. It helps to arrive early to find popular areas less crowded and to enjoy clearer views from the observation wheel in better light.
An observation wheel standing 50 meters tall was added in 2013 and provides panoramic views across the central Perm landscape year-round. From the top, you see the city layout more clearly and gain a completely different perspective on the river and surrounding districts.
