Monument to the Heroes of the North Sea fallen during the Great Patriotic War

The granite obelisk rises 42.5 meters above Murmansk, featuring an eternal flame and a black stone platform at its base.

The monument, inaugurated on October 13, 1974, commemorates the Northern Fleet sailors who perished during the defense of Murmansk in World War II.

The memorial includes two capsules containing seawater from a sunken patrol craft and soil from significant battle locations of the Arctic Campaign.

Visitors can access the monument throughout the year, with organized ceremonies taking place annually on May 9th during Victory Day celebrations.

The structure contains a triangular pyramid representing a flag at half-mast and bears inscriptions honoring the 14th Army and Red Banner Northern Fleet.
