Подновье

Podnovye is a settlement along the Volga River near Nizhny Novgorod, stretching along the riverbank at roughly 70 meters elevation. The landscape is defined by open meadow areas known as the Artyomovsky meadows, which dominate the scenery.

The settlement took its current administrative form during municipal reforms in 2004 when it was incorporated into Nizhny Novgorod Urban Okrug. This restructuring marked a turning point in how the area was governed.

The settlement connects to the city through a canal with a walking embankment and is served by public transit at the Podnovye stop. Visitors should plan to use local buses and be aware of varying conditions along the riverbank.

The area preserves one of the last remaining sections of natural Volga floodplain with original riverside ecosystems still intact. These rare landscapes offer a glimpse into how the region looked before extensive human development.
