Church of Elijah the Prophet in Tsipino Pogost

The Church of Elijah the Prophet features three ascending octagonal tiers made entirely of logs, displaying traditional carpentry methods of northern Russia.

Built in 1755, this Orthodox church served as a central religious structure for more than twenty surrounding villages throughout the 18th and 19th centuries.

The church interior contains a reconstructed icon screen completed in 2010, while original religious artifacts are preserved in regional museum collections.

The structure stands within the Russian North National Park, requiring visitors to obtain permits and schedule appointments for interior access.

Restoration experts recreated specialized narrow-bladed axes based on marks found on original logs to maintain historical construction authenticity.
