The Church of New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia is a white stone building featuring four tiers of kokoshniks set among residential structures. The architecture displays traditional Orthodox elements with a plain yet dignified exterior that stands apart from surrounding buildings.
The foundation stone was laid in 2012 and construction finished in 2015. The building was erected as part of Moscow's '200 Churches' development initiative.
The church honors Orthodox Christians who faced persecution and death during the political repressions following the 1917 October Revolution. It serves as a memorial space where visitors can reflect on this chapter of religious suffering in Russian history.
The church welcomes visitors most days and provides space for quiet reflection and prayer. The white facade is easily recognizable from outside, making it simple to locate within the residential area.
The walls display over 50 icons of Butovo saints, honoring local religious martyrs. Archaeological artifacts discovered during excavations around the site are also presented within the building.
