Saint Nicholas Nadeinskaya Church, Eastern Orthodox church in Yaroslavl, Russia.
Saint Nicholas Nadeinskaya Church is an Orthodox house of worship with a central dome and bell tower positioned on the right bank of the Volga River in Yaroslavl. The structure combines characteristic Yaroslavl school architecture with its brick walls and religious exterior elements.
The building was erected in 1620 as a donation from merchant Nadeya Sveteshnikov, demonstrating the economic power of Yaroslavl's trading community in the early 17th century. During the 1690s, the structure underwent modifications when the bell tower was expanded and other architectural adjustments were made.
The church was dedicated to Saint Nicholas, patron of merchants and travelers, reflecting its importance to the trading community of the time. The frescoes inside depict religious scenes that were part of the spiritual life visitors experienced when entering.
The building sits at Narodnaya Lane 2a in Yaroslavl and today functions as part of a local museum area open to visitors. The location is by the river with good pedestrian access from the city center.
The original structure featured five domes, of which four were later removed, fundamentally altering its appearance. This architectural change shows how renovations have transformed the character of the building over time.
