Ostankino Technical Center, Television studio in Moscow, Russia
The Ostankino Technical Center is a television studio and office building in Moscow, Russia, that occupies several floors and was built with a rectangular footprint. The internal layout provides large production rooms equipped with lighting systems, camera positions, and technical control rooms to enable professional broadcasts.
Architect Leonid Batalov designed the building, which opened on November 4, 1967, introducing a new phase in Soviet broadcasting operations. The facility was completed during a period of intense media expansion as the country developed its national transmission network.
The center takes its name from the surrounding district and houses production facilities where many nationally broadcast programs are created. Visitors can see the large facade behind which studios operate, recording news broadcasts and entertainment shows that air throughout the country.
The building stands on Akademika Korolyova street 12 in the northern part of the city, reachable by public transport or car. Since it is an active production facility, public access is limited and most areas are not open to regular visitors.
The architecture follows the principles of the International Style with clean geometric lines and an emphasis on functionality over decoration. This design reflected the technical optimism of the era and favored simple forms that supported broadcasting tasks.
