Chechen State Youth Theatre is a performance venue with seating for about 250 on Esambaev Boulevard dedicated entirely to young audiences. The year-round program features productions created specifically for children and teenagers.

A theatre lovers' circle formed in 1935 became a puppet theatre in October 1937, opening with "The Magic Galoshes". In 1939 a Chechen troupe was set up to tour rural districts, and during the Second World War actors performed in hospitals and garrisons. After the 1957 rehabilitation of Chechens and Ingush the stage returned to Chechen, then Ingush in 1969. The 1990s wars destroyed the puppets and sets, and the company was rebuilt.

The theatre's name reflects its mission as a young spectator's theatre, staging fairy tales and children's classics such as "The Magic Galoshes", "Aladdin and the Magic Lamp" and "Gulliver in Lilliput". Its repertoire also includes "The Adventures of Chirdig" by Musa Akhmadov, written about the danger of mines, and "Harry Potter and His Friends" by A. Zubairayeva.

The theatre runs a branch at the Naursky District House of Culture, opened in 2004, which stages shows outside Grozny. Its touring tradition dates to 1939, when a Chechen troupe was formed to perform in rural districts. Productions are in Russian, Chechen and Ingush, so check which language a given show uses.
