During the 6th century BC, Al-Ukhdud, then known as Ragmat, operated as a key checkpoint on the incense route connecting Yemen to Mediterranean regions.
The site holds religious significance as it appears in the Quran, referencing events where thousands of Christians faced persecution for their religious beliefs.
The Najran Regional Museum serves as the entry point for visitors, with tickets available for purchase and operating hours from 10 AM to 6 PM daily.
The site contains a preserved ditch where, according to historical records, a mass execution of 20,000 Christians occurred under the orders of Dhu Nuwas.
