Al-Kharj

Al-Kharj is a governorate in central Saudi Arabia, located about 80 kilometers (50 miles) southeast of Riyadh across roughly 19,800 square kilometers of territory. The region is defined by several valleys and natural springs that shape its landscape.

Archaeological excavations in this governorate have uncovered human settlements dating back about 100,000 years. The discoveries include ceramic pottery and remnants of ancient agricultural structures distributed across the region.

The King Abdulaziz Palace, constructed in 1940, stands as a representation of Islamic architecture with its balanced design and traditional decorative elements.
