Sarek National Park

Situated in northern Sweden, Sarek National Park encompasses 100 glaciers, six peaks above 2,000 meters, and numerous valleys across 1,977 square kilometers.

The park gained protected status in 1909 as part of Sweden's first wave of national parks, marking the beginning of nature conservation in Europe.

The indigenous Sami people named geographical features throughout the park using their language, with terms like tjåkkå for mountains and vagge for valleys.

Visitors need substantial outdoor experience as the park contains no marked trails, accommodation facilities, or mobile phone coverage within its boundaries.

The Rapa River delta forms intricate patterns through the landscape, creating one of the most photographed natural formations in northern Europe.
