Mjölby Municipality

Mjölby Municipality is an administrative area in southeastern Sweden's Östergötland region. It includes several towns and villages centered around the city of Mjölby and the historic town of Skänninge, along with surrounding rural communities.

The municipality took its current form in 1971 when several separate cities and surrounding areas merged into one administrative unit. This consolidation brought together urban centers with agricultural regions under unified governance.

The municipality maintains specialized educational institutions, including a goldsmith school and an engine driver training facility, contributing to regional skill development.

The area is accessible by car and public transport that connect the different localities. Most local services and facilities are concentrated in the town centers of Mjölby and Skänninge.

The municipality collaborates with five Nordic twin cities, forming partnerships with communities in Norway, Finland, Estonia, and Denmark for cultural exchanges.
