St. Eugenia's Church

St. Eugenia's Church stands discretely integrated within a historic 1887 palace courtyard, featuring modern interior design with red brick elements that create a welcoming worship environment near Kungsträdgården.

Established in 1837 as Sweden's first Catholic parish after the Reformation, the current church building was constructed in 1982 following designs by Danish architect Jørgen Kjaergaard.

The Jesuit order has administered this parish since 1860, conducting religious services in Swedish, English, Polish, and Arabic to serve Stockholm's diverse Catholic community of approximately 9,000 members.

The church maintains daily opening hours from 07:00 to 20:00, providing regular Mass schedules, confession services, and continuous access to St. Mary's Chapel for private prayer and contemplation.

The sanctuary features a wooden cross carved from roof beams of the previous church, displaying a 13th-century Christ figure from Dalarna that represents one of Sweden's oldest preserved religious artifacts.
