Sturefors Castle, Stone castle in Linköping Municipality, Sweden.
Sturefors Castle is a three-story stone manor with eight distinct sections positioned near Lake Ärlången in Östergötland province. The building comprises several connected wings that together form a substantial residential complex designed for a noble family.
The current building was constructed in 1704 by Carl Piper as a gift for his wife Christina, replacing an earlier castle from the 1500s. This rebuilding reflected the trend of transforming older fortified sites into elegant noble residences during that period.
The design shows the influence of architect Nicodemus Tessin the Younger, who shaped how Swedish manor houses looked during the 1700s. His style is visible in the balanced layout and refined details throughout the building.
The property is privately owned by the Bielke family and is not open for casual visits without prior arrangement. Those interested in viewing the castle should contact the owners in advance to request permission to visit.
The north wing retains the only surviving sections of the original 1500s structure built by nobleman Ture Bielke. These older portions are integrated into the newer building layout and show how the site evolved from a fortified castle into a residential manor.
