Nackasändaren, Television tower and radio station in Nacka Municipality, Sweden.
Nackasändaren is a transmission facility located in a nature reserve consisting of two identical steel lattice masts standing approximately 299 meters tall. The installation broadcasts radio and television signals across the Stockholm metropolitan area.
The facility was originally built in 1956 with shorter masts designed for mediumwave broadcasts. Over the following decades, it was progressively modified to accommodate radio and television transmission.
The transmission facility serves as a communication hub for the greater Stockholm area, delivering radio and television broadcasts to millions of people daily. Its presence has become an integral part of the region's media infrastructure over the decades.
The facility is situated within a nature reserve and access to the site itself is restricted to protect the environment. Visitors can view the structures from outside the reserve and observe the distinctive masts from various vantage points in the surrounding area.
The two masts create a striking presence in the Nackareservat landscape and are visible from considerable distances, yet they form a surprisingly balanced integration with the natural surroundings. Their proximity to Källtorpssjön lake adds an unexpected harmony between technological infrastructure and natural environment.
