Lund Observatory, Astronomical observatory in Lund, Sweden.
The observatory building features architectural elements from the 1860s and stands within a dedicated park outside medieval city boundaries.
Founded in 1749, the observatory replaced an earlier structure from 1672 that was destroyed during the Battle of Lund in 1676.
The facility includes the Vattenhallen Science Center planetarium, which presents educational programs about astronomy and space exploration to visitors.
The Department of Physics maintains research activities in observational astrophysics, galaxy formation, exoplanet studies, and high-energy astrophysics.
The Lund Panorama of the Milky Way, completed in 1955, maps approximately 7000 stars under professor Knut Lundmark's direction.
