Lake Väsman

Lake Väsman is a lake in Ludvika Municipality in Dalarna County, stretching across several kilometers with numerous islands and bays throughout. Steep mountain ridges surround the water and create a varied landscape.

In the early 1900s, steamboats operated across the water as an important transport route, connecting local communities and enabling regional trade. This waterborne commerce was central to the area's economic development.

In winter, locals actively use the lake for recreation, with skating tracks and skiing paths maintained between Ludvika marina and Dröverka. These seasonal activities shape how people experience the water throughout the year.

The lake is accessible for various water activities, but adults need a fishing permit while children under 17 can fish freely when accompanied by a licensed adult. The best time to explore is outside the coldest months when the water is not frozen.
