Lake Väsman, Lake in Ludvika Municipality, Sweden

Lake Väsman is a lake in Ludvika Municipality in Dalarna County, stretching across several kilometers with numerous islands and bays throughout. Steep mountain ridges surround the water and create a varied landscape.

Steamboats ran on Väsman in the past, with Sunnansjö hamn serving as the lake's harbour; the lake was also linked to Väsman–Barkens Järnväg. Brunnsviks folkhögskola stood on the eastern shore until 2013, when it moved to Borlänge. In 2011 Nordic Iron Ore announced plans to try mining the iron ore deposit beneath the lake.

The lake is crossed by Kolbäcksån, and the poet Dan Andersson called Väsman "Vaina sjö" in his writing. Brunnsviks folkhögskola stood on the eastern shore until 2013, when it moved to Borlänge. A cycling route, Väsman runt, circles the water.

Kolbäcksån flows through the lake, and a cycling route, Cykelleden Väsman runt, circles it. The lake stretches about 14 km northwest to southeast, so plan stages by distance rather than crossing it. Brunnsvik, on the eastern shore, had a folk high school until it moved to Borlänge in 2013.

The iron ore deposit beneath the lake is estimated at 640 million tonnes. In 2011 the company Nordic Iron Ore announced plans to try to begin mining it, which would make the bed of Lake Väsman a future mine site.
