Orlången, Natural lake in Huddinge Municipality, Sweden
Orlangen is a lake in Huddinge Municipality that forms part of a larger system of four connected water bodies. The area surrounding it comprises forests, farmland, and wetlands across a nature reserve of roughly 15 square kilometers.
The Orlangen Nature Reserve was established in 1998 to protect the landscape and its historical features. The surrounding area contains several 18th-century estates and homesteads that remain standing today.
The lake connects four water bodies that together form a recreation zone for the surrounding communities. People visit the shores for walking and birdwatching, particularly in the quieter bays where wildlife gathers.
Fishing is possible in designated areas of the lake but requires an angling permit for the region. The water holds several fish species such as pike, roach, perch, and crayfish for those interested in angling.
The Bottnen wetlands near Moertsjoen form a critical habitat for numerous bird species, including great crested grebe, mute swan, and osprey. This area reveals the diversity of wildlife supported across the entire water system.
