Penningby Castle, Medieval castle in Länna, Sweden.

The fortress stands near Edsviken inlet with its stone walls, round tower, and garden overlooking the Baltic Sea coastline.

Built in the 1440s by Lady Birgitta Tordsdotter Bonde, the castle underwent modifications in the 1550s with the addition of an eastern entrance.

The round salon within the sea tower displays decorative elements and architectural features from both medieval and Renaissance periods.

Visitors can access the castle premises and explore its rooms during summer months through scheduled guided tours.

The millwright Olof Persson Stille, who worked at Penningby, later became one of the first settlers in New Sweden, modern-day Pennsylvania.
