Birgittas udde, Medieval castle ruins at Lake Boren, Sweden.
The site contains stone house foundations, a preserved basement, and dried moats around a headland extending into Lake Boren near Motala.
The castle complex, built in the early 13th century, served as residence for Saint Birgitta and Ulf Gudmarsson following their marriage in 1316.
Saint Birgitta lived here for 28 years, raising eight children while serving as an advisor to Queen Blanka of Sweden.
Visitors can access the site through walking paths along Lake Boren's shore, with parking facilities and restrooms available near the entrance.
Large holes on both sides of the basement doorway indicate the past presence of a defensive drawbar system for protection.
