The Artisten building stands as part of the University of Gothenburg, containing multiple rehearsal rooms and performance spaces for music and drama education.

The structure has long served as the primary location for the Academy of Music and Drama before its planned renovation and expansion project starting in 2023.

Students from various artistic disciplines, including composers, musicians, actors, and dancers, develop their skills through professional training programs at this institution.

During the construction phase of the new Konstnärliga building, educational activities relocate to Eklandagatan 86, which includes specialized studios and rehearsal facilities.

The building transformation project will create 26,600 square meters of space connected to Västlänken station, forming a central hub for artistic education in Gothenburg.
