Dalsland Ring, race track in Bengtsfors Municipality
Dalsland Ring was a racing circuit near Dingelvik in Bengtsfors Municipality, Sweden, measuring about 1,650 meters (5,410 feet) with straightforward sections, gentle curves, and modest spectator stands. The asphalt surface and basic safety features like barriers were typical of a motorsport venue built in the 1960s.
Dalsland Ring opened on July 3, 1966, with about 16,000 spectators, the largest public event in Dalsland's history at that time. Operation was brief: after a fatal accident in 1970, stricter safety regulations were introduced, and racing ended in 1973.
The name Dalsland Ring refers to the Dalsland region where the track stood. The racing venue was an important gathering place for the motorsport community from Bengtsfors and surrounding areas, bringing locals together on race weekends to watch competitions and share their passion for driving.
The track is no longer operational and no events are scheduled at this site. Visitors can explore the grounds and will find only fragments of the original asphalt remaining, as the land was later converted to other uses.
A documentary film created after ten years of research by motorsport enthusiast Bengt-Åce Gustavsson preserves the track's history with interviews and rare footage. The film won a Swedish amateur film competition in 2006 and was broadcast on television.
