Slottsgatan 33, Former casino in Kungsparken, Malmö, Sweden
Casino Cosmopol occupies the former Restaurang Kungparken, a yellow two-storey building with a red-tiled roof in Kungsparken. Its central section rises to a tower topped by a small square red-roofed cupola with a finial, and a golden crown sits at the highest point. The entrance has two round-arched doors with round windows above, and the facade reads "CASINO COSMOPOL".
The facility was established by Svenska Spel, Sweden's state-run gaming company, as part of a nationwide initiative to provide regulated gaming. It represented the government's approach to managing legal gambling across the country.
The casino operates under strict Swedish gaming regulations that require age verification and responsible gaming measures for all visitors. These rules reflect how Swedish society approaches regulated gambling and player protection.
The location provides dining areas, bars, and performance spaces alongside the gaming floors. Bring a valid ID as age verification is required for entry to gaming areas.
The building opened in 1881 as Restaurang Kungsparken and was inaugurated by King Oscar II; a golden crown on its highest point marks this royal inauguration. The casino closed permanently on 24 February 2024, not in May.
