Gimo Herrgård, hotel in Sweden
Gimo Herrgård is a large manor house in northern Uppland forests, surrounded by a lake and meadows. The building contains 85 differently decorated rooms and suites, a spa area with lake views, and a restaurant that works with regional ingredients.
The manor was built in 1764 and was Sweden's first building in the Gustavian style. Over 250 years later, it still retains its original character with the bright colors and clean lines typical of that period.
The name Gimo Herrgård refers to the manor estate and the land that has been cared for by the same family across generations. Visitors experience a living tradition of Swedish country life, where rooms and grounds are still used much as they have been through history.
The location is easily reached from Stockholm or Uppsala and works well for short trips. Visitors can hike, swim, fish, or use nearby golf courses, as well as explore Uppsala Cathedral and local museums in the area.
The estate holds a wine cellar with rare wines from around the world and is a member of Chaîne des Rôtisseurs. This connects it to an international fellowship dedicated to fine food and drink traditions.
