Kungsklippan, Urban park in Kungsholmen, Stockholm, Sweden.
Kungsklippan is a park at the eastern end of Kungsholmen island, sitting on a hill with views over Klara Lake and central Stockholm. The grounds feature walking paths, green areas, and viewpoints that make use of the elevated location overlooking the water.
The current name was established in 1885 during Stockholm's street naming revision, replacing several older local names. Previously it was known by names like Berget and Väderkvarnsberget, which reflected its landscape and earlier uses.
The name comes from a time when stone quarrying defined the area, with workers extracting rock for Stockholm's construction. Today the paths and gathering spaces still echo this working history.
An elevator at Rådhuset metro station carries visitors directly from the station level up into the park, making access straightforward. The grounds are well-connected at the top and offer multiple entry points to different areas.
The site once housed a wooden mill called Lilla Munkan that operated until the mid-1800s, marking its past as an industrial location. This mill was a recognizable feature of the landscape long before it disappeared.
