Blekholmsterrassen, Residential street and bicycle bridge in central Stockholm, Sweden
Blekholmsterrassen is a residential street and bicycle bridge extending from Klarabergsviadukten to Kungsbron in central Stockholm. Five residential towers rise on the west side while eight office buildings occupy the east side, creating a mixed-use urban corridor.
The street was built during the 1990s as part of Stockholm's infrastructure development, incorporating the Blekholmstunnel beneath its surface. This construction phase connected central parts of the city in a new way.
Blekholmstorget square between the office buildings serves as a gathering point where workers and visitors pause throughout the day. This open space offers a chance to stop amid the busy downtown surroundings.
The street is flat and level, making it easy for cycling and walking for people of all abilities. Parking is available, but traffic can be heavy during peak hours.
The Blekholmstunnel beneath the street invisibly connects traffic flows and allows the surface spaces to remain clear and open. Few visitors realize how much infrastructure works beneath their feet.
