KFUM-borgen, Uppsala, Residential building in Uppsala, Sweden
KFUM-borgen is a residential building in Uppsala with four stone-built floors and a tile roof located near the Fyris River and Jernbron bridge. It combines apartments, office spaces, and business areas including a recording studio and conference facilities.
The building was constructed between 1908 and 1910 for YMCA Uppsala, funded by patron Oscar Ekman with conditions for student use. This founding phase shaped its role as an important meeting place for young people.
The second floor houses the Alfvén Hall, a concert venue with 250 seats that serves as home to the Orphei Drängar male choir. The group holds regular rehearsals and performances in this space.
The location offers easy access from the city center and sits near key landmarks like the bridge. Visitors can explore the area on foot while enjoying river views and nearby parks.
Artedi Park between the building and the river features the ODjuret sculpture by Katarina Sundkvist Zohari from 2008. This artwork creates a visual connection between the architecture and the river landscape.
