Ormen Långe

Ormen Långe is a residential high-rise in Fittja, Stockholm, stretching across approximately 300 meters with a curved silhouette that follows the natural shoreline of Lake Albysjön. The building contains 175 apartments distributed across multiple floors with direct access to public transportation links.

Construction of this residential complex began in 1964 as part of Sweden's Million Programme, an ambitious nationwide effort to create one million new dwellings. This initiative fundamentally transformed suburban development and housing availability across the country.

The name Ormen Långe means Long Snake in Swedish, directly referencing the building's distinctive serpentine form. This naming practice reflects a Nordic tradition of giving architectural works names based on their most striking visual characteristics.
