The foundation stone was laid in 1897 during a royal milestone, and the building was completed six years later. Major modifications occurred in the early 1920s, including the addition of new windows.
The church bears the name of King Oscar II, whose presence at the cornerstone ceremony linked it to royal significance. Inside, soaring vaults create a formal backdrop for services and cultural gatherings throughout the year.
