Oscars Church is a Gothic Revival structure built from limestone in Östermalm, featuring a prominent southwestern tower. The building displays typical Gothic elements including pointed arches and ribbed vaults throughout its interior.
The foundation stone was laid in 1897 during a royal milestone, and the building was completed six years later. Major modifications occurred in the early 1920s, including the addition of new windows.
The church bears the name of King Oscar II, whose presence at the cornerstone ceremony linked it to royal significance. Inside, soaring vaults create a formal backdrop for services and cultural gatherings throughout the year.
The church sits at Narvavägen 6 near the History Museum and is easy to reach by public transit. You will find regular services here along with space for quiet moments in a devotional setting.
The organ was crafted by a renowned Scandinavian builder and ranks among the largest in the Nordic region. Its many pipes and stops produce a remarkably full sound for sacred music.
