NK-villan, Exhibition building in Nyköping, Sweden
NK-villan is an exhibition building in Nyköping featuring wooden wall shingles and representing the national romantic architectural style from the early 1900s. The structure displays characteristic design elements typical of this architectural movement from that era.
The building was designed by Ferdinand Boberg as an exhibition pavilion for Nordiska Kompaniet during the 1906 Art and Industry Exhibition in Norrköping. After the event, it was transported to Nyköping and given to the employees of the NK workshops.
The building now functions as a museum focused on working life and labor history in the region. Visitors can explore exhibitions that tell the stories of people and their work across different periods.
Visitors can explore the exhibitions inside while enjoying refreshments at the onsite café during regular hours. It is recommended to check beforehand to confirm which exhibitions are on display at the time of your visit.
The building was originally meant to be demolished after the 1906 exhibition but was instead relocated and preserved as a gift to workshop employees. This unexpected journey from temporary pavilion to permanent cultural institution gives it special significance in local history.
