Stadshusparken, park in Sundsvall, Sweden
Stadshusparken is a small green space in central Sundsvall, right next to the town hall. The park has open lawns, shade trees, many benches, and a modern fountain with a sculpture in the northern part.
The land where the park stands was once part of a small neighborhood called Hedern, with houses cleared in 1933 to create the green space. The park opened in summer 1934 and was later renovated in 1996, when it received its current name and the new fountain.
The fountain called Dialog, designed by Christian Partos, gives the park a touch of public art that locals like to photograph. Around the fountain, the open layout makes it common to see people sitting quietly, meeting friends, or watching children play nearby.
You can reach the park easily on foot from nearby streets in the city center, and its diagonal paths make walking through it simple. Benches and shaded spots are available throughout the day, so it works well for a short pause during city errands.
Before the current fountain, the park had a splash pond where children could play in the water, and it was a favorite of local families. That old feature was replaced during the 1996 renovation, a change many visitors are unaware of when they see the modern sculpture.
