Umeå rådhus

Umeå rådhus, Government building at Rådhustorget in Umeå, Sweden

Umeå Town Hall is a government building in the Swedish city of Umeå, characterized by red brick walls and light sandstone details. The structure combines Dutch Renaissance Revival principles with multiple towers and stands at Rådhustorget next to the Ume River.

The current town hall was completed in 1890 and replaced three earlier buildings that served the city since the 17th century. Each of these earlier structures marked a different phase in Umeå's development.

The building serves as the city's administrative center and houses the City Council meeting room. Visitors can observe how this structure functions in the daily life of the community.

The building stands directly at Rådhustorget and is easy to reach since it occupies a central location next to the Ume River. Access is straightforward, and visitors can explore the surroundings without difficulty finding their way.

A bronze bust of Gustav II Adolf, installed on the southern side in 1924, commemorates the city's 300-year history. This statue serves as a visible link between the building and Umeå's cultural past.
