Porezen, Mountain summit in northwestern Slovenia.
Porezen rises to 1,632 meters elevation as the highest peak of the Slovenian Prealps. The mountain features steep slopes and rocky terrain that attract hikers and climbers throughout the year.
During World War II, military fortifications and bunkers were built on the slopes as strategic positions. Remains of these structures are still visible across the mountainside today.
The mountain hut at the summit serves as a meeting place for hikers and climbers from the surrounding region. Visitors and locals gather here to share their passion for mountain activities and connect with each other.
Several marked hiking trails lead to the summit from different starting points such as Cerkno, Davča, and Petrovo Brdo. Most hikes take between three and five hours depending on which route is chosen.
The mountain serves as a station along the Via Alpina long-distance trail, which connects 190 peaks across eight Alpine nations. Hikers following this international route experience a network that spans entire countries.
