Ratitovec, also called Altemaver, is a mountain summit in the Julian Alps standing at 1,678 meters high. Multiple marked trails cross the area and connect different starting points through varied alpine terrain.

The name Ratitovec derives from Rakitovec, after the eared willow (rakita) growing locally. The ridge was recorded as Boscana in AD 973 and as Petschana in 1763–87, both referring to the Pečana pasture on its north slope. Forms Ratitovecz and Rakitovez appear in the late 18th century.

The name Ratitovec derives from the Slovene common noun rakita ('eared willow'), referring to the local vegetation, via Rakitovec and assimilation at a distance. Historical sources record the ridge as Boscana in AD 973 and as Petschana in 1763–87, both names corresponding to the Pečana mountain pasture on the north slope.

Marked routes lead to the ridge from Soriška planina (3 h), Prtovč (2 h), Torka via Povden (1½ h), Bitenjska planina on Jelovica (2½ h), and Planina Pečana (1 h). Krekova koča, just below Gladki vrh, is staffed in summer and also opens on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays outside the season in good weather.

The ridge's name comes from the Slovene word rakita, meaning eared willow, after the vegetation once common on its slopes. Older records call the mountain Boscana (AD 973) and Petschana (1763–87), names tied to the Pečana pasture on the north slope.
