The castle complex includes a 140-meter avenue lined with chestnut trees leading to a two-story structure with Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque architectural elements.
First documented in 1428, the castle served as a Gestapo prison during World War II, processing over 11,500 prisoners, with 849 people losing their lives.
The castle maintains a Museum of Hostages within its walls, preserving the memory of wartime events and documenting the experiences of prisoners.
Located along Highway 638, the castle grounds contain both a psychiatric hospital and museum facilities, with guided tours available for visitors.
The southeast wing, added in the 19th century, stands alongside a Baroque garden that has been converted into a functional vegetable growing space.
