Bardejov

Bardejov is a medieval town in northeastern Slovakia where Gothic and Renaissance buildings fill the historic center. The town is surrounded by preserved fortification walls and tower bastions that once protected the community from outside threats.

The town was granted free merchant status in the 14th century, attracting German traders who built up its commercial importance. Over time it developed into a regional center where different groups, including Jewish communities, found a place to settle and do business.
