Krupinská planina

Krupinská planina is a volcanic plateau in Central Slovakia covering roughly 850 square kilometers. The terrain features deep valleys and numerous parallel streams that cut through the relatively flat landscape.

Archaeological evidence shows that early humans settled this region during the Stone Age. Copper tools and decorative items found here reveal the presence of ancient communities.

Rural villages across this region focus on fruit growing and raising livestock, shaping how people live and work the land. In the southern areas especially, you can see these farming traditions as a natural part of daily life.

The area is most accessible for hiking and exploring during warmer months when the ground is dry. In winter, elevated paths can become slippery and visibility may be reduced due to weather conditions.

The highest point, Dlhý diel, sits within a military training area and is off-limits to visitors. This restriction makes exploring other sections of the plateau more focused and encourages discovering less obvious routes through the landscape.
