Skorušina, Mountain summit in Tvrdošín District, Slovakia
Skorušina rises to 1314 meters above sea level and forms part of the Skorušinské Hills, with deep valleys cutting through its ridge system. The slopes are covered in mixed forests that create a layered appearance typical of this part of western Slovakia.
The hiking trails on the mountain were developed during the 20th century alongside tourism infrastructure in the Western Tatras region. This development made the peak accessible to walkers from nearby towns.
Local communities maintain traditional Slovak mountain shelters near the peak, where travelers gather after their hikes to share stories and regional foods.
The summit can be reached via marked trails starting from three different locations: Vitanová, Trstená, or Brezovica, with each route taking about two hours. The various paths offer different levels of challenge for walkers of varying abilities.
A 13-meter steel observation tower sits at the summit, offering panoramic views across the Orava basin, Orava Dam, Roháč ridge, and Veľký Choč Hill. This viewpoint draws photographers looking to capture the landscape from multiple angles.
