The first winter ascent occurred on January 5, 1906, when climbers E. Baur and Alfred Martin reached the summit in harsh conditions. This early winter climb demonstrated the mountain's formidable challenges.

The eastern ridge from Młynická Przełęcz offers the most direct route to the summit, taking around thirty minutes for experienced climbers. The ascent requires solid climbing skill and mountain experience.
In June 1979, a rescue helicopter crashed near the mountain while responding to an injured hiker. The accident claimed five rescuers' lives and remains Slovakia's worst mountain rescue disaster.
