The fortress was built in the 13th century as a royal stronghold and served to protect the western border of the Kingdom of Hungary. It was later abandoned and remains a monument from that medieval period.

Access is from Cerová by following yellow hiking marks from the fire station to a forest cottage, then taking the path to the ruins. Wear sturdy shoes and watch for the trail markers, as the route passes through wooded terrain.
The most intact section is a farm building in the castle's forecourt, offering insights into medieval agriculture and daily operations. This structure shows how castle residents grew and stored their food supplies.
