Kukla, Mountain summit in Pezinok District, Slovakia
Kukla is a mountain summit in the Little Carpathians that rises to 564 meters above sea level. The peak stands out distinctly in the western Slovak landscape and can be seen from various directions across the region.
The summit has long been a natural landmark of the region before the Pezinok District took its current form in 1996 following administrative reorganization of the former Modra District. This reshaping of boundaries did not alter the mountain's role as a geographical reference point for the area.
The mountain serves as a central geographical reference point for local communities, with numerous folk tales connected to its profile.
Several marked hiking trails lead to the summit from different starting points, allowing walkers to reach the top within about two hours. The routes are clearly signposted and depart from various villages and access points near the mountain.
On clear days, especially in the morning hours, the summit offers views stretching across borders into both Slovak and Austrian territories. Many visitors only notice this far-reaching vista once they reach the top and look toward the horizon.
