Snehová strážnica

Snehová strážnica is a mountain summit in the High Tatras standing at 2,081 meters elevation. The peak features steep rocky slopes and offers expansive views across the surrounding valleys and mountain ranges.

The mountain became a climbing destination in the late 19th century as mountaineers began systematically exploring the High Tatras region. Its importance in the mountain climbing tradition grew as this area became increasingly developed for outdoor pursuits.

Local folklore attributes mystical properties to the mountain, featuring in traditional Slovak stories passed through generations of mountain communities.

The summit is accessible via several marked trails from nearby towns, with the best climbing season from June through September. Visitors should prepare for alpine conditions and bring appropriate gear and weather protection.

The southern face holds newly discovered climbing routes that open fresh possibilities for technical ascents in less familiar areas. These modern routes significantly expand the climbing options available on this peak.
