Deravá skala

Deravá skala is a limestone cave featuring a spacious entrance chamber and several interconnected passages that extend through the rock formation. The interior contains multiple levels and connections that create a complex layout navigable by visitors.

Humans inhabited this cave during the Paleolithic period, as evidenced by archaeological finds of tools and animal bones. These artifacts demonstrate the site served as both shelter and hunting grounds over an extended timeframe.

The cave draws visitors interested in ancient human presence in this region, offering insight into Paleolithic ways of living and how people adapted to their surroundings in the Little Carpathians.

Access is via a marked hiking trail starting from Plavecký Mikuláš village that leads through the surrounding landscape. Sturdy footwear and a flashlight are recommended to safely explore the cave passages.

The cave walls lack stalactite and stalagmite formations but instead preserve remains of ancient cave bears from earlier epochs. These fossils make the site valuable for understanding the region's prehistoric animal life.
