Educational trail Súľovské skály, Educational trail in Súľov-Hradná, Slovakia.
The Educational trail Súľovské skály is a marked hiking route spanning about 6 kilometers with roughly 250 meters of elevation gain through forests and rocky formations. The path winds through the characteristic landscape of the Horné Považie region with varied geological structures.
The route leads to castle ruins dating from the early 15th century, originally built to protect trade routes in the region. An earthquake in 1858 caused significant damage to the structure and shaped how it appears today.
The route features information boards explaining the geology of the region, local plant species, and wildlife found in the Súľov mountains. Visitors can observe the natural diversity of the Horné Považie area while walking.
The circuit is marked with green blazes and starts from the parking area in Súľov-Hradná, taking roughly two hours and fifteen minutes to complete. Sturdy footwear is recommended due to forest terrain and rocky passages along the way.
Hikers pass remarkable rock formations along the way, including a roughly 13-meter natural stone arch made of Tertiary conglomerate with a Gothic appearance. A spring near the castle ruins also deserves attention and serves many walkers as a refreshing rest spot.
