Jabal al-Druze

The Jabal al-Druze volcanic field extends across southern Syria with 118 basaltic volcanoes, reaching an elevation of 1803 meters at Tell Qeni point.

From 1921 to 1936, during the French Mandate period, this region held autonomous status as the State of Jabal Druze in southern Syria.

The mountain region maintains a distinct demographic composition with Druze representing 90 percent of the population alongside Christian and Muslim communities.

Visitors exploring the volcanic field need specialized vehicles and local guidance to navigate the extensive network of basaltic formations and volcanic cones.

The volcanic complex contains numerous tells, which are volcanic cones rising up to 100 meters above the surrounding lava plateaus.
