Pluak Daeng, Administrative district in Rayong Province, Thailand
Pluak Daeng is an administrative district in Rayong Province in eastern Thailand, spanning six sub-districts with 34 administrative villages in the northwestern section. The Nong Pla Lai Reservoir lies within the district and provides water for farming and local consumption.
The district was initially established on June 1, 1970 as a minor district with two administrative sections. It was upgraded to full district status on March 25, 1979.
The district takes its name from red termites found in the area, which became a distinguishing symbol of this administrative region. Local communities recognize this connection as part of their regional identity.
The district functions as an industrial hub with five large estates that attract workers from surrounding provinces. Most of the area is organized around commercial and manufacturing activity rather than tourist destinations.
The district attracts workers from distant provinces like Phitsanulok and Sukhothai, making it a magnet for regional migration. This influx has shaped the local workforce composition and economic character of the area.
