Thung Khru District

Thung Khru District, Administrative district in Bangkok, Thailand.

Thung Khru District is an administrative zone along the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok consisting of two sub-districts: Bang Mot and Thung Khru. The area contains residential neighborhoods, educational facilities, and local businesses that serve the daily needs of the community.

The district was established in 1998 and renamed during the reorganization of Bangkok's administrative structure, replacing its former designation. This change reflected broader urban development and administrative modernization in southwestern Bangkok.

Buddhist temples such as Wat Thung Khru and Wat Bang Mot serve as spiritual gathering places for residents and reflect the community's religious traditions. Visitors can experience how daily life here centers around these sacred spaces and their activities.

The district sits along the river and offers multiple access points by road and public transport connecting it to other Bangkok areas. Visitors can easily find shops, eateries, and everyday services in the residential neighborhoods and local markets.

The area is known for growing Bang Mot tangerines sold in local markets, prized for their distinctive flavor. Local farmers maintain this agricultural tradition, which has been part of the region's identity for generations.
