Wat Muang

Wat Muang is a Buddhist temple in Hua Taphan featuring a towering yellow Buddha statue that stands 92 meters tall and rises above the farmland of Ang Thong province. The grounds spread across several areas with shrines, religious buildings, and expansive wall paintings.

Construction of this temple began in 1990 and finished in 2008, marking an important period of Buddhist architectural growth in central Thailand. The project took shape during a time when many traditional temples across the country were being expanded and rebuilt.

The grounds hold multiple shrines with detailed wall paintings that show Buddhist teachings and help visitors understand the religion's core principles. Daily ceremonies performed by monks give you a sense of spiritual practice as it happens here.

The temple sits roughly 90 minutes from Bangkok and offers parking, dining options, and souvenir shops for visitors. Wear clothes that cover your shoulders and knees, and be ready to navigate uneven ground as you explore different sections of the grounds.
