Tha Mai is an administrative district in eastern Thailand that borders the Gulf of Thailand. The area includes multiple smaller administrative subdivisions and villages spread across this coastal region.
The district was originally established in 1900 under the name Khamong and underwent several boundary changes. It received its current name Tha Mai in 1917 when it was relocated to its present location in Tambon Tha Mai.
The district maintains traditional Thai governance structures through three municipal subdivisions that manage local affairs and coordinate services for 124 villages.
The district has a decentralized administration system with several local offices located at different points. The terrain is relatively flat with good road connections between the main settlement areas.
The district served as the filming location for the 2019 drama film 'Where We Belong', showcasing local landscapes and daily life patterns.
